How to tell a story: Graphics vs Words
I've always been interested in how to share and communicate information effectively. Since joining Brighta, creating infographics has been a surprisingly rewarding experience, revealing a whole new side of myself!
The Impact of Graphics
Graphics are powerful when it comes to storytelling. According to research, their impacts are:
Our brains process visuals 60,000 times faster than text, enabling quick understanding of complex information.
People remember 80% of what they see compared to just 20% of what they read.
Visuals can communicate ideas across language barriers.
Infographics are especially effective because they can summarise an entire report on a single page (or maybe two). This makes them perfect for sharing key insights efficiently.
Infographics make a difference by:
Breaking down complex information into simple, visual elements.
Mixing visuals, statistics, and brief text to capture and keep attention.
Working across presentations, reports, social media, and more.
Infographics as a skill set
Creating effective infographics has become one of my core skills. It involves understanding the audience, highlighting key messages, and presenting data and information visually. This skill has significantly improved my ability to communicate project overviews and insights.
I believe in continuously improving how we communicate to create better outcomes together. Embracing visual storytelling has significantly enhanced my communication efforts.
Looking ahead
Sometimes, telling a story effectively requires more than just words. By using graphics, we can create compelling, memorable, and impactful communications. This skill not only helps people understand the key points of a project but also leads to better outcomes through improved understanding, which in turn supports better implementation. I look forward to being involved in more exciting projects and can’t wait to share my learnings and insights.
